MR. SLIM® HEAT PUMPS QUALIFY FOR TAX CREDIT

    As stipulated in the new American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (also known as the Stimulus Bill) set forth by President Barack Obama in February 2009, eligible homeowners can now claim up to a maximum of $1,500 in tax credits for qualifying energy-efficient home improvements. Included are two Mr. Slim split-ductless heat pumps from Mitsubishi Electric HVAC Advanced Products Division, the ENERGY STAR® and CEE (Consortium for Energy Efficiency (ceel.org)) Tier 2-qualified Mr. Slim MSZ/MUZ-FD09NA and the MSZ/MUZ-FD12NA. This credit means that 30 percent of the cost of the heat pump installation up to a maximum of $1,500, including equipment, materials and labor will be credited back to the consumer on his or her federal income tax return, adding to the benefits of Mr. Slim systems.

    In order to qualify for this credit, the Mr. Slim system must be installed after February 17, 2009, through the end of 2010. The split-system heat pumps chosen for installation must achieve the highest CEE Tier Level of energy efficiency with a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of 15 or higher, an Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) of 12.5 or higher and a Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) of 8.5 or higher. Both the MSZ/MUZ-FD09 and FD12 models fit into this category with the MSZ-FD09NA having a SEER of 25, and EER of 13.8 and an HSPF of 10 and the MSZ-FD12NA having a SEER of 22, and EER of 12.5 and an HSPF of 10.55.
